Roumanie – 1954

Dana Protopopescu commence très jeune ses études musicales à Bucarest et les achève brillamment au Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles et à la Hochschule für Musik de Hanovre sous la direction d'Eduardo del Pueyo et de Karl Engel.

A l'âge de 14 ans, elle donne son premier concert avec orchestre. Depuis, elle combine harmonieusement une carrière de soliste, de chambriste et d'accompagnatrice.

Elle a participé à de nombreux festivals et master classes et a été l'invitée des cycles Grands Solistes. On a pu l'entendre à Londres, Moscou, Paris, Barcelone, Montréal, Washington, Séoul. Elle est pianiste officielle du Concours Musical International Reine Elisabeth, depuis 1986, et du Concours International Adolphe Sax, pour la quatrième fois.

Dana Protopopescu a enregistré de nombreux CD’s dont l'intégrale des œuvres pour piano de Mendelssohn et l’intégrale des sonates de Beethoven pour violon et piano avec Liviu Prunaru. Ses enregistrements des concerti de Hummel et Weber ont été applaudis par la critique. En 2000, elle a reçu The Music Critic Award, à Bucarest.

Dana Protopopescu begint al op zeer jonge leeftijd muziek te studeren in Boekarest en rondt deze studies op schitterende wijze af aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel een aan de Hochschule für Musik in Hannover, onder leiding van Eduardo del Pueyo en Karl Engel.

OP 14-jarige leeftijd geeft ze haar eerste concert met orkest. Sindsdien combineert zij op evenwichtige wijze een carrière van soliste, kamermuzikante en begeleidster.

Zij werkte mee aan talrijke festivals, gaf masterclasses en was te gast op Grote Solisten concertreeksen. Ze trad op in Londen, Moskou, Parijs, Barcelona, Montréal, Washington en Seoel. Sinds 1986 is zij officiële pianiste van de Internationale Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd en nu voor de vierde keer in de Internationale Wedstrijd

Adolphe Sax.

Dana Protopopescu nam talrijke cd’s op, waaronder het volledige pianowerk van Mendelssohn en de integrale sonates voor viool en piano van Beethoven met Liviu Prunaru. Haar opnames van de concerto’s van Hummel en Weber werden enthousiast door de muziekkritiek onthaald. In 2000 kreeg zij in Boekarest The Music Critic Award.

Dana Protopopescu began her studies at a very early age in Bucharest; she completed them with great distinction at the Royal Brussels Conservatory and at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover, under Eduardo del Pueyo and Karl Engel.

She gave her first concert with orchestra at the age of fourteen. Since then, she has harmoniously combined the careers of a soloist, a chamber musician, and an accompanist.

She has taken part in numerous festivals and master classes and has been a guest at the Grands Solistes series. She has performed in London, Moscow, Paris, Barcelona, Montreal, Washington, and Seoul. She has been an official pianist of the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition since 1986 and is now an official pianist of the Adolphe Sax International Competition for the fourth time.

Dana Protopopescu has recorded a number of CDs, including recordings of Mendelssohn's complete works for piano and the complete Beethoven sonatas for violin and piano with Liviu Prunaru. Her recordings of the Hummel and Weber concertos have won critical acclaim. In 2000 she received the Music Critic Award in Bucharest.

Bulgarie – 1974 

Peter Petrov a étudié le piano de 1979 à 1996, à Sofia, sa ville natale.

A 8 ans, il présente son premier récital et, à 13 ans, il remporte son premier concours international. Il a accumulé les prix (Mozart, Chopin,...) non seulement à Sofia, mais aussi en Sicile ou à Paris. C'est avec les meilleurs résultats qu'il quitte la classe de piano du Professeur Atanas Kourteff du Conservatoire de Sofia.

A 22 ans, il arrive à Liège, où il fréquente le Conservatoire Royal de Liège. Il y obtient en 1999 le Diplôme Supérieur de Piano avec Grande Distinction (classe de Juliette Longrée-Poumay).

Depuis, il enseigne, tout en multipliant les récitals en Belgique, aux Pays-Bas, en Allemagne, en France et en Bulgarie.

Continuant sans cesse à se perfectionner, il obtint, en septembre 2005, un prestigieux Master au Conservatoire de Maastricht dans la classe du Professeur Avi Schönfeld.

Invité en mars 2004 par le Festival Beethoven de l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège, il est ensuite convié aux trois concerts d'ouverture de la saison 2005-2006 de l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège, afin de jouer le 5^e concerto de Beethoven, L'Empereur, sous la direction de Louis Langrée.

En avril 2005, c'est avec l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Dortmund, dirigé par Arthur Fagen, qu’il interprète le Concerto de Schumann au Concertgebouw d'Amsterdam et au Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles. En novembre 2006, il joue le Concerto de Grieg avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Saint-Pétersbourg au Singel d’Anvers et à Groningen et, en mai 2007, il se produit avec le même orchestre dans sa prestigieuse salle à Saint-Pétersbourg où il présente un concerto de Mozart.

Peter Petrov s’adonne aussi à la musique de chambre avec des solistes comme Liviu Prunaru, Philippe Koch,...

Il est accompagnateur officiel du Concours International Adolphe Sax depuis 2002. 

Bulgarie – 1974 

Peter Petrov studeerde van 1979 tot 1996 piano in zijn geboortestad Sofia.

Op achtjarige leeftijd geeft hij zijn eerste recital en op dertien jaar wint hij zijn eerste internationale muziekwedstrijd. Hij stapelde de prijzen op (Mozart, Chopin…), niet alleen in Sofia, maar ook op Sicilië en in Parijs. Hij verlaat de klas piano van Atanas Kourteff aan het conservatorium van Sofia met schitterende resultaten.

Op 22-jarige leeftijd komt hij aan in Luik, waar hij les volgt aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium. Hij behaalt er in 1999 het Hoger Diploma piano met grote onderscheiding (klas van Juliette Longrée-Poumay).

Sindsdien geeft hij les in België, Nederland, Duitsland, Frankrijk en Bulgarije, en daarnaast speelt hij talrijke recitals.

Terwijl hij zich steeds verder blijft vervolmaken behaalt hij in september 2005 een masterdiploma aan het Conservatorium van Maastricht in de klas van Avi Schönfeld.

In maart 2004 wordt hij uitgenodigd voor het Beethovenfestival door het Filharmonisch Orkest van Luik. Daarna wordt hij gevraagd om op drie openingsconcerten van het seizoen 2005-2006 het 5^e pianoconcerto, het Keizerconcert, van Beethoven te spelen met het Filharmonisch Orkest van Luik onder leiding van Louis Langrée.

In april 2005 vertolkt hij in het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam en in het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten in Brussel het pianoconcerto van Schumann met het Filharmonisch Orkest van Dortmund onder leiding van Arthur Fagen. In november 2006 speelt hij het pianoconcerto van Grieg met het Filharmonisch Orkest van Sint-Petersburg in de Singel in Antwerpen en in Groningen, en in mei 2007 treedt hij met hetzelfde orkest op in zijn beroemde zaal in Sint-Petersburg met een concerto van Mozart.

Peter Petrov wijdt zich ook aan de kamermuziek met solisten als Liviu Prunaru, Philippe Koch e.a.

Sinds 2002 is hij officieel begeleider van de Internationale Wedstrijd Adolphe Sax.

Bulgarie – 1974 

Peter Petrov studied the piano from 1979 to 1996 in Sofia, his home town.

He gave his first recital at the age of eight and won his first international competition at the age of thirteen. He has won many prizes (including the Mozart and Chopin), not just in Sofia, but also in Sicily and in Paris. He graduated from Professor Atanas Kourteff's piano class at the Sofia Conservatory with the best results.

At the age of 22 he arrived in Liège, where he attended the Royal Conservatory. In 1999 he obtained the Diplôme Supérieur in Piano with Great Distinction (in Juliette Longrée-Poumay's class).

Since then he has taught, while also giving many recitals in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Bulgaria.

He has also continued to study and in September 2005 he obtained the prestigious Master's from the Maastricht Academy of Music, in the class given by Professor Avi Schönfeld.

He was invited to be a guest musician at the Liège Philharmonic Orchestra's Beethoven Festival in March 2004 and the orchestra subsequently invited him to perform in the three opening concerts of its 2005-2006 season, at which he played Beethoven's Fifth Concerto, the "Emperor", conducted by Louis Langrée.

In April 2005 he played the Schumann concerto with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Arthur Fagen, at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels. In November 2006 he played the Grieg concerto with the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra in De Singel in Antwerp and in Groningen; in May 2007 he appeared with the same orchestra in its prestigious concert hall in St Petersburg as the soloist in a Mozart concerto.

Peter Petrov also plays chamber music with soloists such as Liviu Prunaru and Philippe Koch.

He has been an official accompanist of the Adolphe Sax International Competition since 2002.

Belgique – 1965

Après ses études au Lemmensinstituut de Louvain, Filip Martens étudie au Conservatoire Tchaïkovski de Moscou de 1988 à 1989.

Il se perfectionne ensuite à la Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, où il suit les cours de Levente Kende.

En 1994, il obtient le Prix Lemmens-Tinel en Piano et Musique de Chambre, avec la Plus Grande Distinction et les Félicitations des Membres du Jury.

Parallèlement à ces études, il devient Lauréat du Concours de Tenuto en 1990 et obtient le Diplôme Supérieur de Piano et de Musique de Chambre ainsi que le 1er Prix de Contrepoint et de Fugue.

Il a suivi les cours de perfectionnement du pianiste russe Rudolf Kehrer, à Weimar.

Il a également joué en soliste avec les Orchestres de la VRT, de la RTBF, Chapelle de Lorraine, Euregio et Lemmens. Filip Martens s’est produit en duo avec l’altiste Diederik Suys, avec lequel il a enregistré quelques CD’s.

Il est également Chef de Chœur des chorales Canta Ludens et Schola Cantorum de la Cathédrale de Gand et dirige régulièrement l’Orchestre Nuova Sinfonia Gandavense.

Actuellement, il enseigne à l’Académie de Eeklo et au Lemmensinstituut à Louvain.

Belgique – 1965 

Na zijn studies aan het Lemmensinstituut in Leuven volgt Filip Martens van 1988 tot 1989 les aan het Tsjaikovski Conservatorium van Moskou.

Hij vervolmaakt zich daarna aan de Koninklijke Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth, waar hij les volgt bij Levente Kende.

In 1994 behaalt hij de Prijs Lemmens-Tinel voor piano en kamermuziek met de grootste onderscheiding en felicitaties van de jury.

Naast deze studies wordt hij in 1990 laureaat van de Tenutowedstrijd en behaalt hij het Hoger Diploma voor piano en kamermuziek evenals de 1e Prijs contrapunt en fuga.

Hij volgde vervolmakingscursussen in Weimar bij de Russische pianist Rudolf Kehrer.

Hij speelde als solist met het orkest van de VRT, de RTBF, de Chapelle de Lorraine, de Euregio en het Lemmensinstituut. Filip Martens vormde een duo met de altist Diederik Suys, met wie hij ook enkele cd’s opnam.

Hij is ook koorleider van Canta Ludens en van de Schola Cantorum van de kathedraal van Gent, en dirigeert regelmatig het orkest Nuova Sinfonia Gandavense.

Momenteel geeft hij les aan de muziekacademie van Eeklo en aan het Lemmensinstituut in Leuven.

Belgique – 1965 

After studying at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, Filip Martens went on to study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow from 1988 to 1989.

He later continued his studies at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where he was taught by Levente Kende.

In 1994 he was awarded the Lemmens-Tinel Prize in Piano and Chamber Music, with the Highest Distinction and the Congratulations of the Members of the Jury.

While pursuing those studies, he also became a Laureate of the Tenuto Competition in 1990 and was awarded a Higher Diploma in Piano and Chamber Music and First Prize in Counterpoint and Fugue.

He studied further under the Russian pianist Rudolf Kehrer in Weimar.

He has also performed as a soloist with the orchestras of the VRT and the RTBF, the Chapelle de Lorraine, the Euregio Symphony Orchestra, and the Lemmensinstituut orchestra. Filip Martens has also performed in a duo with the violist Diederik Suys, with whom he has recorded a number of CDs.

He is also Choirmaster of the Canta Ludens and Schola Cantorum choirs of Ghent Cathedral and regularly conducts the Nuova Sinfonia Gandavense.

He currently teaches at the Akademie in Eeklo and at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven.

Pierre Liémans a débuté sa formation musicale à l’Académie de Braine-le-Comte où il obtient les Médailles du Gouvernement en Piano et en Musique de Chambre. Il a ensuite poursuivi son parcours musical au Conservatoire Royal de Liège (1er Prix de Solfège), puis au Conservatoire Royal de Mons où il a obtenu les Diplômes Supérieurs de Piano, de Musique de Chambre, d'Orgue.  Compositeur, il est également titulaire de divers prix d'écriture.

Professeur de Piano à l'Académie de Musique de Quaregnon, il est Accompagnateur au Conservatoire Royal de Mons.

En tant que soliste, Pierre Liémans est également sollicité comme pianiste et célestiste par l'Orchestre National de Belgique, l'Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, l’Orchestre Philharmonique d’Anvers et l'Orchestre de la Musique Royale des Guides ainsi que par des artistes de renommée internationale (José Van Dam, Walter Boeykens, Isabelle Kabatu, Lionel Lhote, Jean-Luc Votano, Christelle Pochet, Ronald Vanspaendonck).

Il est aussi pianiste attitré de différents concours internationaux: Torneo Internazionale di Musica de Rome, Concours Pacem in Terris de Bayreuth, Concours International Adolphe Sax de Dinant,... Actuellement, il accompagne les classes de saxophone, violon et clarinette au Conservatoire Royal de Mons.

Depuis 1992, il s’adonne également à la composition. Il compose de nombreuses œuvres pour piano, pour musique de chambre (trios, sonates, quatuors) et écrit une œuvre pour chœur, orgues et orchestre, commande pour le 10e anniversaire de Lyricanto, ensemble vocal dirigé par Edmond et Jeanne Lhote.

En 2004, il obtient le 1er Prix de Composition avec la Sonate Op.22 (pour clarinette et piano) au Torneo Internazionale di Musica de Rome. Sa pièce A la Bonne Heure Op.26 (pour saxophone et piano) était l’imposé au Concours pour Jeunes Saxophonistes (Dinant – 2005) et fait partie des œuvres au choix pour l’épreuve éliminatoire du 5e Concours International Adolphe Sax (Dinant – 2010). 

  Belgique – 1961

Pierre Liémans begon zijn muzikale opleiding aan de academie van ’s-Gravenbrakel, waar hij de regeringsmedaille behaalt voor piano en voor kamermuziek. Hij vervolgde zijn muziekloopbaan aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Luik (1e Prijs notenleer), en daarna aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Bergen, waar hij het Hoger Diploma behaalt voor piano, kamermuziek en orgel. Hij is ook houder van verschillende prijzen voor compositie.

Hij is leraar piano aan de muziekacademie van Quaregnon en pianist-begeleider aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Bergen.

Pierre Liémans is ook gastsolist op piano of celesta van het Nationaal Orkest van België, het Koninklijk Kamerorkest van Wallonië, deFilharmonie Antwerpen en de Koninklijke Muziekkapel van de Gidsen. Hij speelt ook samen met internationaal vermaarde artiesten zoals José Van Dam, Walter Boeykens, Isabelle Kabatu, Lionel Lhote, Jean-Luc Votano, Christelle Pochet en Ronald Vanspaendonck.

Hij won verschillende internationale wedstrijden voor piano: het Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Rome, het Concours Pacem in Terris van Bayreuth, de Internationale Wedstrijd Adolphe Sax in Dinant e.a. Momenteel begeleidt hij de klassen saxofoon, viool en klarinet aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Bergen.

Sinds 1992 wijdt hij zich ook aan het componeren. Hij schreef talrijke werken voor piano, kamermuziek (trio’s, sonates en kwartetten), en werkt aan een stuk voor koor, orgel en orkest, een opdracht voor de 10e verjaardag van Lyricanto, een vocaal ensemble onder de leiding van Edmond en Jeanne Lhote.

In 2004 won hij op het Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Rome de 1e Prijs voor compositie met de Sonate op.22 voor klarinet en piano. Pierre Liémans began his musical education at the Académie of Braine-le-Comte, where he obtained the Government Medals in Piano and Chamber Music. He later went on to study at the Royal Liège Conservatory (where he obtained First Prize in Music Theory) and later at the Royal Mons Conservatory, where he obtained Diplômes Supérieurs in Piano, Chamber Music, and Organ. He has also won a number of prizes as a composer.

Professor of Piano at the Académie de Musique in Quaregnon, he is also an Accompanist at the Royal Mons Conservatory.

As a soloist, Pierre Liémans also appears as a guest musician on piano and celesta with the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the Royal Flemish Philharmonic, and the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides, as well as with internationally renowned artists such as José Van Dam, Walter Boeykens, Isabelle Kabatu, Lionel Lhote, Jean-Luc Votano, Christelle Pochet, and Ronald Vanspaendonck.

He is also an official pianist at numerous international competitions, including the Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Rome, the Pacem in Terris Competition in Bayreuth, and the Adolphe Sax International Competition in Dinant. He currently accompanies the saxophone, violin, and clarinet classes at the Royal Mons Conservatory.

Since 1992 he has also turned his hand to composition. He has composed many works for piano and for chamber music ensembles (trios, sonatas, and quartets) and has written a work for choir, organs, and orchestra, which was a commission for the tenth anniversary of the Lyricanto vocal ensemble led by Edmond and Jeanne Lhote.

In 2004 he won First Prize for Composition with his Sonata (for clarinet and piano), Op. 22, at the Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Rome. His A la Bonne Heure (for saxophone and piano), Op. 26, was the compulsory work for the Competition for Young Saxophonists (Dinant, 2005) and is also one of the optional works in the first round of the 5th Adolphe Sax International Competition (Dinant, 2010).
